Athboy in mourning for Tommy Mullen
The town of Athboy and beyond is mourning the untimely death of local funeral director, Tommy Mullen, of Mullen’s Funeral Directors.
In his early sixties, Mr Mullen, of Ballyfallon, Athboy, died unexpectedly on Friday evening.
Tributes have been flowing as condolences on the RIP website from many people that he had helped in their own times of grief, handling funerals with professionalism, kindness and sensitivity, and always with a sense of humour to carry bereaved ones through a time of sadness.
Of a well-known local family with Rathmore origins, he was son of the late Tom and Mary Mullen.
He is survived by his wife Annette, daughters Jackie Doherty, Laura Flanagan, Joanne Leavy, Anita Swords; grandchildren Aaron, Odhrán, Emily, Layla, Ronan, Conor; sons-in-law Emmet, Tommie, Jamie, and Stephen; brothers Michael, Bobby, Bernard, Brian; sister Jean; sisters-in-law, Mary, Edel, Amanda, Mags; brother-in-law, Brendan; aunt Mary Growney, uncle Matt, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
He will be reposing at Mullens Funeral Home, Athboy, from 2pm until 7pm on Monday, with removal on Tuesday morning, leaving his residence, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am in St James' Church, Athboy, followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.
