Adrian Dolan and Karen Carroll release first album
KaceyD aka Adrian Dolan and Karen Carroll are no strangers to the Irish music scene.
Not alone is Adrian an accomplished songwriter and producer, but he also wrote songs for his uncle, the ‘Mullingar Mojo’, Joe Dolan.
Dundalk native Karen has, meanwhile, worked in Nashville, with Charley Pride and also had Eurovision involvement.
Next month, the duo hold two launches of their first album, entitled KaceyD - the fruits of three years of hard work.
The first launch is taking place at a KaceyD Christmas Party Night at The Lisdoo in Karen’s hometown Dundalk on Saturday December 2.
The second takes place here in Mullingar at The Greville Arms Hotel on Saturday December 9.
‘I’m back doing what I started out doing in the music business, singing the songs I have written and playing bass’ says Adrian
‘Karen and I have worked together as KaceyD for the past 8 years, and we felt the time was right to release our first album.
“We have worked on it for the past three years at The Bandroom Studios in Mullingar, a place where I worked many hours with the great Joe.”
The album, which contains fifteen tracks in all, is a blended mix of country and pop. As well as original songs from Adrian and from Peter Callander - who wrote for Dusty Springfield and now for Karen, it contains reimagined cover versions of songs from singers who influenced Karen and Adrian, such as Dolly Parton, Pink, Springsteen, Bowie and Lady Antebellum.
There is, of course, more than a nod to Joe, with Karen covering ‘It’s You, It’s You, It’s You’, and Adrian giving voice to his song ‘Ciara’.
‘I am very excited by this, our first album together as KaceyD,” says Karen. “We can’t wait for everyone to hear it. I think we have found our KaceyD sound’
“KaceyD” is available as a download or from The Joe Dolan Website Store.
