MIT Mullingar workshop on Kubernetes next week

There was a strong turnout of IT professionals and students for the MIT Mullingar event earlier this month, and the organisers are anticipating more of the same next week.

The November 7 session focused on the basics with an install of Docker and examples of the ‘use and throwaway’ approach to IT tools and services. “For example with a few lines of code on our PCs, we created an Ubuntu operating system, compiled some GO code, and ran the program locally without installing any software,” said Tony Palmer of MIT Mullingar.

“To show the power of containers in real world situations, we have decided to follow it up with another session building on what we learned. We will be looking at things like deploying in cloud environments, container management and high availability.

"If we have time, we hope the last part of the workshop will include a fairly advanced walk through demo of zero-downtime application upgrades.”

Limited spots are available, so don’t miss out on an opportunity to learn and meet other IT people locally. Visit mitmullingar.com to reserve your spot.

The event is free and all are welcome; if you want to take part in the workshop, bring a laptop and install Docker, Kubectl and Kind beforehand.

Thanks to Ian Kerr and all at Idaso (again) for hosting this event.

Warren Hodgkinson.

Warren Hodgkinson, a software engineer at VMWare, returns for this session. Warren says he loves tinkering with anything technical. He’s been a programmer since he was 11, and still loves it.
