There was plenty of pre-Christmas cheer in the air at Clonkill GAA Centre on Sunday when a good crowd turned out for the Clonkill Christmas Market.
People were treated to a wonderful selection of craft, gift and artisan food stalls. All of the revenue raised from the event goes back to local charities and groups, such as TEAM, Meals on Wheels, and Clonkill hurling and camogie clubs.
The organising committee, who have been hosting fundraisers since 2016, have spent months preparing for Sunday's market, Vivienne Mulligan told the Westmeath Examiner. She says that the event wouldn't be possible without the support of the wider community.
“We have to thank all of the volunteers that come every year to help us set up. We also have to thank our sponsors. We have an unbelievable amount of sponsors from around Mullingar who sponsor prizes for our raffle. We'd also like to thank all the traders who sponsor gifts for the raffle and for our lucky dip stall.
“And finally, huge big thanks to the members of the public that turned out in their droves. Without them the event wouldn't be a success.”
