Leonard calls for extension of paths at Milltownpass

A case for extension of the path on the Mullingar road in Milltownpass was made by Cllr Denis Leonard at the November meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

He also argued that the footpath on the Kinnegad road out of the town should be extended: “The mucky verge is being driven on by vehicles making it impassable for pedestrians,” he told officials.

Regarding the Mullingar Road side, Cllr Leonard asked that the path be extended from Millview estate “to cover the highly populated area at the edge of the village”.

He asked that as part of any such works, residents also be provided with pedestrian access and also some safe lighting to access the centre.

The official response to Cllr Leonard’s request stated that there is an existing footpath to the 50kmh speed limit from the village. “Any additional footpath works will be considered as part of the 2024 estimates,” the response concluded.

The response to his Kinnegad Road request was that the suggestion could be considered as part of the 2024 estimates.

At the same meeting, Cllr Leonard asked that the district work with Irish Water to resolve sewerage issues in Brookfield and Brookfield Close in Rochfortbridge. The response was that the issue has been reported to Uisce Éireann.

Repairs are to be carried out “in the next three weeks” to a location in Delvin where flooding is an issue, the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad has assured Cllr Frank McDermott.

He had asked that the district extend the surface water drains, at and opposite a particular house in Stoneyford Park, Delvin. “The resurfacing may be considered as part of the 2024 estimates, Cllr McDermott was told.

At the same meeting, Cllr McDermott asked that the district make safe Corboy Lane L5766 at Castletown Finea. To this the response was that drainage works at that location will be considered as part of the 2024 estimates.
