Mullingar man hoping 'Pennies for Palestine' fundraiser goes viral
A local businessman has organised an online fundraiser to provide medical aid to the people of Palestine and he wants it to go viral.
Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, organiser Tomás Nally explained the idea behind his Pennies for Palestine campaign.
“We are asking every person in Ireland to donate €5 to this appeal. Our hope is that this fundraiser will go viral and every man, woman and child who donates €5 will send this on to 10 of their friends.
“All money raised will go directly to medical aid for those affected in Palestine.
“We are an anti-Hamas, pro-Palestine group who want to directly contribute to saving lives of innocent civilians affected by this ghastly war."
Tomás, who in the past has done aid work in Herzegovina and some nursing in Uganda, said that he was motivated to start the fundraiser by the distressing images he has seen on television every day in recent months.
"It's horrific what is going on. We guarantee that the money will go directly towards providing medical aid and not anywhere it shouldn't go.
“It would be great if people contributed €5 but equally it's important that they share it with ten people or even more."
