Gas Networks Ireland confirm 'no trace of gas found' at ETNS

Gas Networks Ireland have confirmed that one of their personnel attended Educate Together NS today to investigate a report of a gas leak.

A spokesperson told the Westmeath Examiner this evening: “This morning at 10.35am, Gas Networks Ireland responded to a report of a suspected smell of gas at the Educate Together National School in Mullingar.

"Our responder arrived at the school at 11.02am to assess the situation, and a larger crew arrived at 11.11am.

"A number of checks and tests were carried out, but no trace of gas was found.

"Our crew left the site at 3.10pm.”

Suspected gas leak at local school

Mullingar Educate Together NS has been evacuated due to a suspected gas leak.

Parents were arriving to pick up children early at around noon today.

Investigations were being undertaken.

It is understood that there was a smell of gas and school management took the precaution of evacuating the premises and contacting the authorities.
