Westmeath man encourages others to follow in his footsteps as international brand ambassador

A Westmeath man who is currently based in Lagos, Nigeria, as a brand ambassador for Jameson Irish whiskey has encouraged others to consider following in his footsteps by applying for its International Brand Ambassador Programme.

Nathan Clinton, from Mullingar, is the first participant in the Jameson initiative to be based in the Nigerian capital.

With applications currently open for the 2024/2025 Jameson International Brand Ambassador programme, Nathan spoke positively about his own involvement with it.

The local man had earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Maynooth University, and he chose the international brand ambassador programme after chatting to some of its alumni from Maynooth University.

"Working and living in Nigeria has been such an exciting and unique opportunity," he said.

"My role focuses on building brand advocacy, building relationships with businesses, consumers and influencers, and representing the brand overall.

"As well as that, I've been involved in identifying commercial opportunities, event planning and so much more. The highlight so far was our recent event called 'Jameson Distillery on Tour'.

"This was the first time this experience visited Nigeria. I was given a lot of responsibility in its execution, so it was brilliant to see it come to fruition and succeed after months of planning.

"The opportunity the programme offers to gain work and life experience in another country is amazing. The level of knowledge, experience, and expertise you gain in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector makes it the perfect kickstart to a career in marketing," Nathan concluded.

The Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme has been recruiting and training graduates for over 30 years and has been recognised as the #1 FMCG Graduate Employer in Ireland since 2014.

The programme is now recruiting graduates for this year and said it was "looking for creative, innovative, self-starters with an entrepreneurial mindset".

The deadline for applications is 1pm on February 14, and more information is available at: www.jamesongraduateprogramme.com
