Blessing of the Animals takes place in Moate this week
The annual Blessing of Animals in Moate takes place tomorrow (Wednesday, January 17) on the feast of St Anthony the Abbot.
The Blessing of Animals and farm produce is a very old tradition that takes place every year on this day at the Carmelite Church, Moate. People travel from all over Ireland to have their pets or farm animals and produce blessed.
The Intercession of St Anthony will take place after the 10am Mass and will continue throughout the day until after the 7.15pm Mass.
The blessed salt and water will be available at the religious shop and in the porch of the church.
