Twenty trolleys dumped every week
Twenty supermarket trolleys are being dumped around Mullingar and in the canal every week and a compound should be provided where they can be stored and reclaimed, according to Cllr Bill Collentine. He suggested that they could be taken to the recycling depot.
When he raised the issue at the January meeting of the municipal district, Cllr Collentine was told that if a disused trolly is reported to the council it is checked to identify to which shop it belongs and the shop is asked to collect it. Where no identifying label is found, the trolley is removed by staff.
