Westmeath camogie will be flying high in coming season
Last Friday evening in TEG Cusack Park, Westmeath camogie had the launch of their new jerseys.
A three-year partnership with Bourke Sports was agreed from 2024 to 2026. Tom Fitzpatrick of Bourke Sports was on hand to deliver the new jerseys to Westmeath camogie chairperson Karen Goldrick and senior players.
Local family business, Shay Murtagh Ltd, will continue as main sponsors this season. Gillian Murtagh attended on behalf of the Raharney-based employer.
"We are delighted to announce Shay Murtagh Ltd will be our main sponsor for Intercounty 2024. We extend our deepest gratitude to Gillian and all at Shay Murtagh for their continued support and unwavering commitment to our sport.
"Their support played a key role in our success and we look forward to the year ahead together," said chairperson Karen Goldrick.
On the night, Julie McLoughlin (Crookedwood) and Aoife O'Malley (Raharney) officially took up the roles as captain and vice-captain for the year. The launch was completed by the unveiling of the new crest for 2024 which all clubs agreed was necessary to show integration.
Paying tribute to artist Emma Carter (designer of the previous crest), Goldrick said “this one was worn with pride for two All-Ireland Finals in Croke Park and has been synonymous with the meteoric rise of Westmeath camogie in recent times”.
