Two homes burgled

Two houses were burgled in Mullingar in the last week, both during daylight hours. One of the burglaries was at a home at Abbeylands; the other at a house in Lakepoint.

While nothing of significant value was taken from the houses, the experience was, nonetheless, upsetting for the homeowners.

Gardaí have cautioned this week that those intent on breaking and entering don’t confine their activities to the hours of darkness.

"They will look for an unlocked door, or go in through an open window," a garda spokesperson said, as he advised residents to be security conscious.
