Gainstown centenarians

Three people who have passed their 100th birthdays grew up in the Gainstown area and attended national school there in the early 1930s.

They are Mary Nea (who we featured in the Westmeath Examiner recently), Maire Tschabold, née O’Donoghue, and Joan Leavy, née Curran. Mary lived in Sunnyside, Lynn; Maire lived in Gainstown and Joan lived in Catherinestown.

Mary Nea celebrated her 100th birthday on February 7; Maire’s 101st birthday will be June 25; and Joan’s 102nd birthday will be April 1. We wish the ladies health and happiness.
