Women in Business 2024: Geraldine Oliver (Westmeath Examiner)
In the world of business, it’s all about drive, it’s about self-discipline; it’s about diligence and determination.
If you have what it takes, you’ll make it.
This Friday is International Women’s Day. The vision behind the day is of “a gender-equal world; a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.”
To mark the day, we’re celebrating the performance of women in the world of business.
These go-getters are out there making their mark in the cut-and-thrust world of a range of important fields. They’re bringing their talents, their vision, and their commitment to their fields of endeavour, and their leadership is vital to the success of their companies.
That they are women doesn’t come into it: what matters is ability.
Among them is Geraldine Oliver of the Westmeath Examiner, who this week takes up the role of Graphic Design and Digital manager of Celtic Media Group Limited, a stable of six regional newspapers. Said Geraldine this week: “Taking over from long term production manager Joe Tone is an honour and I wish him all the very best in his retirement. It’s a very exciting role and in today’s ever-changing digital environment is also an exciting challenge.”
Geraldine started her career in Celtic Media in 2007 and has witnessed many changes, including installation of state of the art IT and transition to a cloud environment.
“It’s a very fast paced industry to work in with multiple editions each week of our own titles. We also have six additional clients whose titles we design here in our hub in Mullingar.”
