Both referendums defeated in Longford Westmeath

The Longford Westmeath results in the two referendums on care and family are clear at 78.56 per cent against (care) and 74.63 per cent against (family).

Counting of the votes for the Referendums on the 39th amendment of the Constitution (Family) Bill 2023 and the 40th amendment to the Constitution (Care) Bill 2023 for the Longford Westmeath constituency took place today at the John McCormack Hall, Technological University of the Shannon Athlone.

Overall turnout in Longford Westmeath was 40.85 per cent.

Turnout in Westmeath was higher than in Longford at 40.3 per cent - compared to 36.9 per cent in Longford.

Brídín Concannon, returning officer for Longford Westmeath, reported that everything went smoothly at the polling stations yesterday, and today at the count, “and after a four-year break from elections, we’re glad to be back helping people cast their votes and counting them”.
