Dessie Dolan launches Moate primary school's 5k fundraiser

A 'Moate Moveathon' 5k event which will raise funds for a state-of-the-art sensory shed at a local primary school was launched yesterday (Monday) by Westmeath football manager Dessie Dolan.

The 5k fun run or walk is being organised by the parents' association of St Oliver Plunkett boys' national school in Moate and will take place on the greenway on the morning of Sunday, April 28.

Registration will be at the school from 9.30am that day, and the 5k will commence at 11am.

The launch event for it took place in Dun na Sí yesterday evening and was attended by Dessie Dolan, local councillor Tom Farrell, and others.

The school is hoping to raise enough funds from the event to purchase a state-of-the-art sensory shed which will help to support a large number of pupils who attend the school.
