Gleann Petit and Coill Rua to be taken in charge
Westmeath County Council is set to take in charge two large housing estates in Mullingar – Coill Rua and Gleann Petit.
Housing section official, Eugene Duffy, setting out the details for the members of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District at their March meeting, stated that there are 91 houses in Coill Rua, which is just off the Ballymahon Road, and 125 units at Gleann Petit.
In preparation for the taking of charge of Coill Rua, the public areas were transferred over to the council; walls were raised and plastered; tarmac works were undertaken and drainage channels put in to sort out a ponding issue.
He thanked Cllr Ken Glynn for his assistance with the Coill Rua process.
Mr Duffy said that at Gleann Petit, a range of work was undertaken including the plastering of walls and some landscaping works, public lighting works, and repairs to hydrants.
A notice announcing the taking in charge is to go in the local papers announcing a public consultation and once all these have been assessed and the chief executive’s report prepared, the matter will come back before councillors for approval in May.
