Bressie seeks Athlone foodie tips ahead of live podcast show this weekend

Niall 'Bressie' Breslin is bringing his live podcast show - Where Is My Mind? - to Athlone this Saturday night (April 13).

Westmeath gaelic football manager Dessie Dolan will be Bressie's special guest at the show, which gets underway in the Dean Crowe Theatre at 8pm.

Ahead of the event, the Mullingar man took to social media, asking his Facebook followers to provide "grub recommendations" in Athlone.

He received dozens of replies which highlighted the volume and variety of quality eateries in the Athlone area.

Kin Khao Thai, Thyme, The Fatted Calf, Rustic Roots, Yakisoba, Il Colosseo, Savoury Fare, Left Bank Bistro, Al Mezza, Harvest, Beans and Leaves, Dead Centre Brewing, the Shamrock Lodge Hotel and Bastion Kitchen were among the in-town dining options recommended by locals in response to Bressie's post.

There were also favourable mentions for eateries in Glasson such as The Villager, Grogan's and the Wineport Lodge.

Bressie's Where Is My Mind? live shows are described as offering a "unique and intoxicating mix of music, spoken word, monologues and incredible guests".
