'Westmeath Nationalist Alliance' enters the political fray
A new grouping of “nationalist” candidates has been established in Westmeath ahead of June's local elections.
The “Westmeath Nationalist Alliance” includes two candidates from Mullingar LEA: Patrick Hussey (Independent) and Margaret Maguire (Ireland First); two in Kinnegad LEA: Noeleen Fanning (Ind) and Sarah Heraty (Ireland First); Shane Lynam (Irish Freedom Party) in Moate LEA; and Catrina O'Donohoe (Irish Freedom Party) in Athlone LEA.
In a statement to the Westmeath Examiner, the grouping says that its members will work together if elected.
“This cooperation will help ensure that every vote for a nationalist candidate goes towards forming a strong team for Westmeath that will put the interests of local communities first and support efforts at national level to tackle mass migration and the devastating effects it will have if left unchecked. Housing and safety and security are two of our other priorities.”
