Final preparations under way for Darkness into Light in Mullingar

With final arrangements falling into place, Mullingar gears up for the poignant and purposeful Darkness Into Light event, set to take place on Saturday, May 11.

This annual event, organised to support the vital work of suicide prevention charity Pieta House, will commence at 4.15am, marking the dawn of hope amidst darkness.

The walk will begin from St Loman's football pitch, leading participants on a journey through the heart of the community. The route will wind its way into town park via Millmount Road, guiding walkers through a symbolic passage toward awareness, empathy, and support for those affected by suicide and self-harm. Exiting near the Annebrook, the walk will then lead back to its origin at St Loman's football pitch, completing the circle of solidarity and resilience.

This year's event is proudly supported by Electric Ireland, a testament to their commitment to mental health awareness and supporting those in need. Darkness Into Light Mullingar 2024 aims to not only raise vital funds but also to raise conversations, give solidarity, and break down the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

Organised by a collaborative effort of local businesses including Writech, Mullingar Tidy Towns, Apache Pizza, and Pita Pit, Darkness Into Light Mullingar 2024 embodies the spirit of community and compassion. Participants are encouraged to register for the event and join hands in solidarity with those affected by mental health challenges.

"We invite everyone in the area to walk with us at Darkness Into Light Mullingar 2024," expressed the organising committee. "Together, let us illuminate the path from darkness into light, offering hope and support to those who need it most."
