Mullingar site goes on sale with a €4.5m guide price
A Mullingar site with full planning permission for 207 homes has been listed for sale with a guide price in excess of €4.5m.
The 15.7 acre (6.37 hectare) site at Rathgowan has been listed by estate agents Savills Ireland, who say that it could be key in addressing a “severe housing shortage” in Mullingar. It is located between Mullingar Educate Together NS and the new Farronshock Park development on the C-Link Road.
The proposed development on the site will comprise of 102 two-story homes, 86 two and three bed duplex homes, 19 one and two bed apartments and a crèche once completed.
Vehicular access will be gained through the existing estate at Rathgowan Wood and Rathgowan Park, with pedestrian and bicycle access to the north.
Savills Ireland director of development John Swarbrigg said the site could be key in alleviating housing pressures in Mullingar.
“Mullingar has been experiencing a severe shortage of new housing stock in recent years, as evidenced by the demand we are experiencing from buyers in the adjoining development at Farranshock Park,” he said.
“This property offers a rare opportunity to acquire a site of scale, which has full planning permission for a predominantly housing-led scheme, and is essentially ready-to-go.
“As a result, we do anticipate good interest from builders and developers alike.
“Also, the most recent announcement from government to extend the development levy waiver will no doubt further add to the attractiveness of this opportunity.”
