Sporting and community groups invited to apply for funding to train volunteers

Local sports clubs and community groups have been invited to apply for up to €1,000 in funding to go towards training and up-skilling its members.

The funding is available through Westmeath Sports Partnership's Volunteer Support Programme. In a press release issued this week, Westmeath Sports Partnership said that the programme “aims to enhance the capacity of volunteers to make a positive impact within their communities through sports and physical activity”.

Priority consideration will be given to applicants operating within disadvantaged areas, such as Mullingar and Athlone Rapid Area, as well as those working with people with disabilities. Westmeath Sports Partnership says that it “recognises the importance of supporting initiatives that address the needs of underserved communities and promote inclusivity”.

"We're excited to launch the Volunteer Support Programme and provide support to the dedicated volunteers who play a vital role in promoting health, well-being, and inclusivity in our communities," said Tony Wheat, Coordinator at Westmeath Sports Partnership.

The closing date for applications is Monday, May 27. For more information about the Volunteer Support Programme and to access the application form, visit http://www.westmeathsports.ie/ .
