More than 100 tractors descended on Glenidan on Sunday afternoon for a tractor run in memory of Martin Doyne.
Participants came from across north Westmeath and further afield for the event, which started and finished at Doyne’s Bar. Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, one of the main organisers, David Buckley, said that the event was a “huge success” and that the high turnout is a reflection of the high esteem in which Martin and the rest of the Doyne family are held in their community.
“We are so grateful to everyone who took part in the tractor run and all of the people from the community who volunteered on the day.
“Without them, the event wouldn’t be able to ahead. It was a great community effort.” The money raised on the day will be divided up among three local organisations: Ballycomoyle GFC’s underage set-up, the Lough Lene Gaels underage set-up, and the Collinstown Fore senior citizens group.
