Top plot for local ploughing champ

Christy Carton from Kilbeggan won the senior open ploughing competition at the County Longford Ploughing Championships, on Sunday week last.

The veteran ploughman scored 116 marks, which put him just two ahead of Longford’s top ploughman Sean Monaghan, who scored 114 when the plots were completed.

The event organisers offered their thanks to everybody who attended the County Longford Ploughing Championships, on Sunday April 28 at Bunlahy, Granard. Following a spell of serious wet weather that forced the cancellation of the event twice, they said it was tremendous to see so many happy people out, enjoying the music, dancing and pop-up exhibition under glorious sunshine. “We hope everyone had an enjoyable and memorable day.”
