Rose returns to school

Everyone at Columba College was delighted to welcome past pupil and Westmeath Rose, Grace O’Connor, back to the school last week, when she spoke to many of the students about her experience of being a Rose, to date.

Dermot Brady, Columba College principal, said: “Grace was excellent student at Columba College. She is a diligent and hard-working person, who would make an excellent Rose of Tralee. Grace is a great role model to the students in our school and we wish her every success in Tralee.”

Grace was delighted to return to the school. “Walking the hallways again brought back so many great memories. I always loved my time in school, and I never took for granted getting to see my friends five days a week.

“We had the best craic here in Columba College and I wouldn’t change a thing.

“Getting to see all the students as I going around the school and talking to some of them was great. Catching up with some of my old teachers and talking to some new teachers in the school was also so lovely.

“Overall, everyone was so nice and supportive, and it was such a heartwarming feeling the entire time I was there. Thank you so much again to all at Columba College for bringing back the fondest memories and continuing to showcase and promote the amazing atmosphere and school that is Columba College.”

The staff of Columba College are proud of their new Westmeath Rose and look forward to seeing her ‘Grace’ the stage in Tralee in August.
