New chief executive of WCC appointed

Barry Kehoe is the new chief executive of Westmeath County Council.

Elected members approved Mr Kehoe's appointment at a meeting this afternoon. He has been serving as interim chief executive following Pat Gallagher's retirement in February.

The council issued this statement a short time ago:

Following a meeting earlier today, Westmeath County Council is pleased to announce that the elected members approved the appointment of Mr Barry Kehoe as chief executive of Westmeath County Council. Mr. Kehoe, who is a long-standing director of services with the council was selected for the position following a recruitment process by the Public Appointments Service.

Mr Kehoe has been interim chief executive following the retirement of Mr Pat Gallagher in February of this year.
