Local dancer/actor appearing in new Warner Bros horror film
A classically trained dancer and actor from Westmeath has a role in a new Warner Bros horror film coming out next month that's produced by Hollywood heavyweight M Night Shyamalan.
Multyfarnham native Eleanor Waldron is one of the movement artists in The Watchers, which is written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, and produced by her father M Night Shyamalan. The Watchers is based on the novel of the same name by Irish writer AM Shine. It stars Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouéré.
A 28-year-old artist Mina, played by Fanning, gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. Upon finding shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
Eleanor plays one of the mysterious creatures (The Watchers), who come out each night to terrorise Mina and her companions.
A former student at Loreto College Mullingar, Eleanor began dancing at the age of four.
She achieved high grade distinctions from The Royal Academy Of Dance from pre-primary to advanced level under the guidance of Anica Louw of Shawbrook School of Dance in Legan, County Longford
Eleanor has won many awards in classical ballet and contemporary dance at national and international level and continues her dance career in the UK while also pursuing an acting career. Eleanor danced in Disney's Disenchanted 2022 film and is currently in rehearsals as the lead female in The Curious Incident of the Dog at Cheltenham Playhouse.
Filming of The Watchers took place in Dublin, Wicklow and Galway in 2023. It is scheduled to be released in theatres by Warner Bros Pictures on June 7.
