Business women meet to discuss Women’s Well-Being in the Workplace’

‘Women’s Well-Being in the Workplace’ was the theme for business networking event that women from Westmeath, Longford and Leitrim attended on May 20 in The Landmark Hotel, Carrick On Shannon. The keynote speaker was Louise Dennison, who was accompanied by three guest business speakers from the three counties.

The event was organised by the Local Enterprise Offices of those three local authorities with the aim of further developing relationships within the Women in Business Network.

Pat Murphy, chairperson of the Tri County Women in Business Network, opened the evening, and later on facilitated a networking session.

Louise Dennison, a wellbeing in the workplace expert and founder and CEO of The Dennison Training Academy, is a qualified advanced mental health instructor and registered EMT, and as such is aware of many aspects of working life such as productivity, health and safety, work/life balance and, increasingly, the risk of anxiety and burnout.

She gave a talk on measures that can be taken to reduce stress, enhance work life balance and reduce the risk of burnout.

Olivia Curran from An Olivia Chocolate was the Westmeath guest speaker. Olivia has won 18 awards for her luxury handmade chocolates to date, and her business is a labour of love, she said. Her handmade products use the finest Belgian Chocolate, Irish artisan products and ingredients, ranging from Irish cream liqueur, honey, salt, gin, cider, Guinness and coffee.

Olivia makes everything from individual chocolates and 3D Easter chicks to novelty bars, dinosaurs, and hot chocolate pots.

Geraldine Stewart, founder and director of DGS Business Consulting, set up recently with her business partner Doreen Garety, was the Longford speaker. Geraldine has almost 30 years pan-European investment management experience, predominantly with Fidelity Investments. She has demonstrated capability in building, developing and leading investment teams supporting funds on behalf of retail and institutional clients worldwide.

Geraldine and her husband Robert have also been responsible for the renovation and development of the Cathedral View Apartments which offer short-term tourist and business accommodation.

Alison Moffatt, marketing manager with Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway, was the Leitrim guest business speaker. Alison shared the story about that unique destination where luxury meets sustainability, and she offered insights into the history and experiences that awaits visitors.
