Kinnegad LEA

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself

I have a degree in business studies and law and I’m a qualified barrister. I'm involved in my family business in Milltownpass, where I've taken on the responsibility of ownership and management.

My son Mason keeps me active, and my second child arrived last week. I serve on the Rochfortbridge Community Centre Committee, where we recently secured a significant grant of €300 to renovate our community hall.

I hold the role of deputy chair on the board of management of Columba College, Killucan and I’m a member of the Women in Construction and Quarrying Steering Committee.

2. Why did you get involved in politics?

I got involved because I believe in being a strong voice and progressive representative for my community. As a young business owner in the area, I'm acutely aware of the challenges facing us. I see first-hand the need to improve infrastructure and increase the services available to support our community.

3. What are the big issues?

Transport: I recently had the opportunity to address this concern at the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis. It's evident that we need better services to meet the needs of our community effectively.

Housing: The urgent need for more housing in our area stems from a severe shortage of properties and rental properties.

4. Who is your role model?

My parents. Their drive, determination, and motivation are truly inspiring.

5. What are your hobbies?

For me business isn’t just a profession – I really enjoy business and entrepreneurship – it’s an area that is constantly evolving. I enjoy learning new things and up-skilling.

6. Tell us one thing about yourself that people will be surprised to read

I was Westmeath Best Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2019.
