Turnout climbs to 27% in Westmeath
Turnout at the polls has jumped to 27% in Westmeath.
As of 4.30pm, Mullingar urban has the highest reported turnout so far at 27.4%.
Turnout in Kinnegad is at 27% and Athlone urban is 27%.
One polling station at Moate had a 24.7% turnout before lunchtime, but no updated figures have been available for the area since.
The polls remain open until 10pm.
The local election count is taking place in Moate from tomorrow.
Some 20 seats must be filled on Westmeath County Council.
Voters in Westmeath are also being asked to choose MEPs to represent them in Brussels in the Midlands North West constituency, where there are five seats up for grabs.
