Ken Glynn “absolutely delighted” after securing fifth term
Cllr Ken Glynn has said he is “absolutely delighted, elated and very humbled” after securing his fifth consecutive term on Westmeath County Council.
The Fianna Fáil councillor took the second seat in the six-seat electoral area with 1,322 first-preference votes.
He said he’s looking forward to serving for another five years.
“I’m so humbled by the vote,” said Cllr Glynn.
“People listen to my message, which is effective on the ground representation, working for people, working for the town and not being afraid to speak up and fight for community and fighting for individuals on a personal level.
“That's what I've been about for the last 25 years and that's not going to change.”
Cllr Glynn credits his campaign efforts for such a high return of votes.
“I've been on the road since the first week of March,” he said.
“I got to as many doors as possible in my own allocated area and that was it; on the doors, talking to people.
“I meet people weekly in my clinic. People want to see their representatives. They want to be able to express their views and they want to be able to advise us, of their concerns and the issues that affect both them and their area”
Cllr Glynn said it's all about listening to the people.
“I'd like to think that I'm a good person for that type of work,” he said.
“I ran a campaign of listening to you, working for you.
“It's been my motto for the last 20 years and that will continue.”
