Mercury could hit 23 degrees by Friday

High pressure will build bringing more settled weather this week with temperatures increasing too.
Dry across most areas today but starting out cloudy with faint showers feeding down on a moderate northerly flow, mainly affecting Ulster. Sunny spells will gradually develop with widespread spells of late sunshine likely by evening. Highs of 14 to 19 degrees, best values where sunshine breaks through.
Tonight will be cool and clear. Lows of 4 to 9 degrees in just light northwest breezes.
Wednesday will be dry with high hazy sunshine in just light variable mainly westerly breezes. Highs of 16 to 21 degrees, warmest in sunshine away from Atlantic fringes.
Long clear spells in the south and east but cloud will push in across the west and north overnight on Wednesday. Largely dry with light winds and lows of 7 to 10 degrees.
Thursday will bring cloudy periods and sunny spells, the best of which will be in the east and south. A spell of rain will move in over counties in the far north for a time but staying largely dry elsewhere with southwesterly breezes and highs of 18 to 22 degrees.
Friday is expected cloudy with a few showers at first but some sunny spells in the east. Rain will push in across western counties later in the afternoon, becoming widespread by evening. Highs of 19 to 23 degrees and moderate southwesterly winds.
