Sunday sport: Louth beat Cork to reach quarter-final, Down overcome 14-man Sligo

Extra time was needed to separate the sides in the second Tailteann Cup semi-final at Croke Park.
Down and Sligo finished level 18 points to 2-12 after 70 minutes of play.
Sligo had Nathan Mullen sent off with 10 minutes to go, and a rule change meant they played the extra period with 14 men.
Down booked their place in the Tailteann Cup final after they defeated Sligo on a score-line of 1-20 to 2-15.
14-man Sligo had led by 3 points, but the Mourne-men battled back and clinched the win thanks to an extra-time penalty converted by Odhran Murdock.
Down will play Laois after they defeated Antrim earlier on Sunday.
2 goals from Brian Byrne helped Laois to a 5-point win over the Saffrons.
Louth needed a last minute point to get past Cork and make it to the last eight of the All Ireland Football Championship.
Ger Brennan's side squeezed past the Rebels when it looked like the game in Inniskeen was going to extra time.
However, Sam Mulroy kicked the winning score deep into added time to send the Wee County into tomorrow's quarter-final draw.
It finished Louth 1-9 Cork 1-8.
Soccer
