Coaching Coordinator confirmed at Mullingar Athletic

Mullingar Athletic AFC has announced the appointment of Ray Geoghegan as the Club Small Sided Games Coaching Coordinator. It is a significant appointment for the experienced coach.

The role of Coaching Coordinators at club level has been identified as essential for player and coach development within the delivery of the FAI Football Pathways Plan and the FAI Player Development Plan.

This appointment will see Ray lead the player and football development across the club small sided games programme (SSG).

Ray holds a UEFA B Coaching Licence and Diploma in Sports Management and has been the Head Coach of the Real Football Academy in Mullingar which was established under his leadership nine years ago to provide elite coaching to players across ages 4-19 years. Ray’s coaching experience has seen many local players develop and move through the football pathway to play at elite level within the current League of Ireland football structure.

This appointment will also see the integration of Real Football Academy Boys teams and academy players into the Mullingar Athletic AFC football family (at the end of their current cup competition in the NEFL) where they will participate within the Midland Schoolboys League and our Club Academy programmes. Ray’s appointment to this vital position is a demonstration of the club's commitment to fulfilling the FAI Player Development Plan and we welcome Ray and the wider members of the Real Football Academy to Mullingar Athletic.
