Tributes paid to Horseleap lady following lake incident

Tributes are being paid this weekend to the late Geraldine Buggy of Horseleap (RIP), who has died following an incident at Lough Ennell.

Geraldine was hospitalised after experiencing difficulties while swimming at Lough Ennell on Tuesday last.

Instructors from the nearby Lilliput Adventure Centre entered the water and managed to reach her. They performed CPR, and an ambulance arrived on the scene within minutes. Geraldine was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar, where she passed.

A private service celebrating Geraldine’s life was held yesterday, Saturday, morning followed by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium.

Tributes have been paid to Geraldine on rip.ie from members of the community in the Horseleap and Moate areas.

There is widespread shock in the area and sympathy is being expressed to Geraldine’s family and friends.

Among the notes of condolonce on rip.ie are: “Deepest sympathies to all Geraldine’s family and friends from all the crew in Lilliput AC.”

“Geraldine’s tragic passing shocked us in Rahan Drama Group. She acted in some of our plays and also became our director. Sympathy to Milo, Pat and Betty, all loyal friends in our group.”

"Very sorry to hear of Geraldine's passing. Many memories of Sundays with the South Westmeaths with her and her beloved Azora. May she rest in peace."

Geraldine was predeceased by her father Thomas, and brother-in-law Richard. She is sadly missed by her loving husband Milo, stepchildren John and Tara, mother Margaret, sister Mary, grandchildren Evelyn and Thomas, daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Chris, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and friends.
