Gardaí investigating fatal road at collision at Ballymahon

Gardaí are investigating a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, 8 July in Ballymahon, County Longford.

The collision occurred at approximately 12.45am on the N55.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 30s, was treated by emergency services at the scene but later passed away.

His body was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

The road remains closed this morning and an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators is under way.

Local diversions remain in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Road users who have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the collision are asked to make it footage available to gardaí.
