New president and committee at Lake Bridge Club

Following a large turnout at the AGM held in Mullingar Bridge and Amenity Centre, Judith Balfour was elected as the incoming president of Lake Bridge Club. Judith, who has played bridge with the club for more than a decade, expressed her delight and the great honour in accepting her nomination as president. She thanked outgoing president Mary McCormack for her work and dedication over the last year.

Following her election, Judith oversaw the formation of the new committee for the 2024/2025 playing year. The committee comprises: Enda Carroll (vice-president); Mary McCormack (ex officio); Gerry O’Gorman (honorary treasurer and Bridgewebs administrator); Margaret Layde (assistant honorary treasurer); Patricia McCormack (honorary secretary); John Higgins (assistant honorary secretary); Margaret Deegan (public relations officer); committee members: Monica O’Gorman, Mary Macken, Virginia Pye, and Joan Peppard.

The Lake Bridge Club have more than 85 members who play regularly on Wednesday and Friday nights throughout the year. The club have enjoyed significant achievements over the last year, and members achieved success in regional and national competitions,

As the newly elected president, Judith Balfour will oversee numerous events throughout the coming year. These events include: twice weekly club competitions; the midsummer strawberries and cream night; charity nights; fun nights; the traditional president’s dinner and awards ceremony.

Mullingar Bridge and Amenity Centre hosts several bridge clubs throughout the week: Ennell Bridge Club on Monday nights, Belvedere Bridge Club on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and Lake Bridge Club on Wednesday and Fridays.

The club prides itself on its warm and welcoming ethos and provides classes for those who wish to take up the game.
