MRI scanner staff issues 'will be addressed imminently' - Troy

Local Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy has said he is confident that the MRI staffing issues at Regional Hospital Mullingar will be resolved imminently.

Hospital management informed staff this week that the MRI unit would close its doors today (Wednesday July 31), despite HSE approval for the recruitment of staff for the unit.

Deputy Troy said: “It is extremely regrettable that there has been a need for the management at Regional Hospital Mullingar to seek further clarification from the HSE in recent days regarding the appointment of MRI staff when approval was given by the HSE on May 24 for 11.2 WTE hours to staff the scanner.

“I have contacted the Office of the Minster for Health to highlight the urgent need to resolve this issue without delay.

“I am of the firm belief that clarity will be forthcoming and the staffing issues will be dealt with imminently.”
