Gaybrook Park Estate – unique opportunity to own historical property
Auction to take place this Friday, August 9
An estate of approximately 111½ acres of picturesque parkland and farmlands, complemented by an 18th-century cut stone stable-yard and a six-acre feature walled garden, comes up for auction this week.
The well-preserved 18th-century cut stone farmyard complex on Gaybrook Park Estate was built around 1790. The substantial complex of outbuildings and stables, along with the expansive walled garden, was originally part of Gaybrook House, which was constructed by Ralph Smyth in 1790.
Although the main house was demolished in the 1960s by the Land Commission, the remaining structures serve as a historical reminder of the once grand estate and the Smyth family’s legacy.
The six-acre walled garden, one of the largest in Westmeath, along with its gates and bridge, adds to the historical and aesthetic appeal of the estate.
The estate features a modern bungalow, a comfortable and spacious residence with four bedrooms, positioned centrally within the farm. The bungalow offers panoramic views of the surrounding parkland and woodland, which is rich in wildlife, including woodpeckers.
Property Partners McDonnell are handling the auction, which is on Friday, August 9, at 3pm in the Greville Arms Hotel, and online via LSL Auctions.
