And Then There Were None opens at arts centre today
The Mullingar Arts centre group, Little Brother Productions, present a dramatised version of the Agatha Christie murder mystery ‘And Then There Were None’ for three nights from today, Thursday.
The play is set in 1939, as Europe is facing war: 10 strangers are invited to Soldier Island, an isolated rock near the Devon coast. They are cut off from the mainland, and their hosts Mr and Mrs UN Owen are mysteriously absent.
The guests are each accused of a terrible crime.
When one of the party dies, they wonder if there is a murderer among them.
The tension rises as the survivors realise the killer is preparing to strike again, and again…
Little Brother Productions is well established at Mullingar Arts Centre, though this week’s performances are their first since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner at a dress rehearsal on Tuesday evening, Sam Gilmartin and Jack Foran (who is directing the play along with Sean Lynch, director of the art centre), said: “It’s all local actors, everyone here is from Mullingar. We’re hoping this will kick-start more Little Brother Productions, that we build some momentum now.
“We started it up ourselves and we hope to open it up to more people and put on more productions.”
