Ballinafid Multyfarnham Bunbrosna Active see off the summer

Many BMB Active members and friends enjoyed a summer season enriched by the opportunities open to them. In particular, there were mini breaks to Donegal and Inisboffin, Galway. On September 1, a group will head off to Carrickdale Hotel in Dundalk for a few days of fun.

Others enjoyed the day trips organised by BMB Active, such as visits to Delta Sensory Gardens in Carlow and Kildare Village, with dinner at Browne’s on the Green.

Last Wednesday, approximately 50 people hopped on the coach to historic Clonmacnoise, took the Viking Cruise on the Shannon at Athlone’, and toured Derryglad Folk Museum. The trips are open to all members and friends and are a great way to socialise with friendly folks and see a bit of our beautiful surroundings. Great credit to the organising committee, particularly Bridie Hoye with Marian Mooney. Thanks! (See photos.)

Patrick Wallace, RIP

Very sad news hit Multyfarnham again with word that Pat Wallace, Ballinakill, died suddenly at his home in early August. Pat was predeceased by his dear wife Nancy (Anne) and his sisters Patricia and Josephine McCormack. Our condolences to Pat’s sons Wilfred, Patrick, and Michael; his daughters Trudy Maguire, Anne Marie Pidgeon, and Rose Graham; daughters-in-law Anita, Christine, and Noelle; and his beloved grandchildren Elaine, Paddy, Meadhbh, Anna, Lucia, Dara, Lile, and Shay. Condolences also to his sister Mary Greene, sons-in-law Berney, Cory, and Enda, and his nieces, nephews, and many friends.

As well as his dedication to his family, Pat’s passion was for sport, especially football. He took unparalleled enjoyment in taking a break from farming and heading off to a match. A tremendous player in his younger days, Pat also refereed and was a distinguished clubman, inspiring his family and the next generation. Pat was a wonderful neighboUr and was known for extending a helping hand to others. May he rest in peace.
