Mullingar pickleball success at English Open
MULLINGAR TENNIS CLUB NOTES
There was major success achieved by players from Mullingar Pickleball Club at the English Open tournament hosted in Telford.
The English Open Pickleball tournament was on from the 8th - 14th of August and is the biggest Pickleball tournament in the world outside of the USA.
There were around 2,000 players who competed in the tournament which shows the love for this exciting and growing sport.
In Ladies doubles (65+), Mandy Kerroum and Aideen Dunne were competing on behalf of Mullingar Pickleball club.
Aideen Dunne achieved third place which is a testament to her talent and hard work.
Mandy Kerroum magnificently won this group to secure two spots on the podium for Mullingar! This just shows the talent that Mullingar Pickleball club can produce.
Well done to both of the Ladies! Mandy and Aideen were back on their success streak when they won gold in the Ladies Doubles (65+).
The Ladies won in a relatively comfortable manner by a scoreline of 11-4.
Partnering with Tom Reilly from Multyfarnham Pickleball club, Mandy Kerroum was back playing in the Mixed Doubles vying for a third medal for her journey home.
Mandy and Tom took Bronze in a thrilling match. These major successes highlight the massive talent pool in Mullingar Pickleball club and the clubs in the area. Pickleball is an excellent sport for everyone no matter your fitness level, there's a reason it's the fastest growing sport in the world.
To play Pickleball in Mullingar it will cost you a mere €20 to start for annual insurance and then just €1 every time you want to play after that.

Sunday Funday a Smash Hit
Over the past few months, Sunday Funday has quickly become a cherished addition to Mullingar Tennis Club's lineup of activities, drawing in enthusiastic participants week after week.
For just €2, both members and non-members aged 5 to 17 can join in on an hour of tennis fun every Sunday, making it an affordable and accessible option for families looking to get active.
From 2.00pm to 3.00pm, a dedicated group of TY coaches - who have been honing their skills since September - lead a variety of engaging games and sessions.
These activities are carefully designed to teach the basics of tennis in a fun and approachable way, catering to all skill levels.
Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience, Sunday Funday ensures that everyone can participate, learn, and enjoy themselves.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with a focus on making tennis enjoyable for everyone.
All you need to bring is €2, a positive attitude, and a willingness to play.
Rackets and equipment are provided, so there's no need to worry about having the right gear.

Senior Open Approaches
The highly anticipated Senior Open at Mullingar Tennis and Badminton Club is just around the corner, scheduled to run from August 31 to September 8.
This prestigious tournament, open to players from various clubs, promises a vibrant and competitive atmosphere, showcasing top tennis talent from across the region.
Currently, there are 121 entries for the open which is extremely exciting for the players and spectators. This enthusiasm shown in the entries promises a great spectacle of tennis.
As the event draws nearer, the excitement is building, and the club is buzzing with preparations.
Organising such a large-scale tournament is no small feat, and special recognition goes to Alaine Clarke and Patricia Sheridan, whose tireless efforts have been instrumental in bringing this event together.
Their dedication to ensuring everything runs smoothly is deeply appreciated.
With the deadline for entry now closed, the tournament lineup is set, and players are gearing up for what promises to be a thrilling week of matches.

Mullingar Internal Club Championship Coming Soon
The eagerly awaited Mullingar Internal Club Championship is just around the corner, scheduled for September 21 to September 28.
This exciting event is exclusively for members of Mullingar Tennis and Badminton Club and will feature tournaments in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and a unique Mixed Doubles competition.
For a €10 entry fee, participating members will not only support the club but also have the chance to engage in a week of competitive play and connect with fellow club enthusiasts.
A standout feature this year is the Mixed Doubles tournament, where participants will be paired with surprise teammates.
This format promotes fairness by balancing the teams with a mix of experienced and newer players, adding an element of fun and encouraging new friendships.
If you’re interested in competing in the Men’s or Women’s Doubles but don’t have a partner, don’t worry! The club will assist in pairing you with a suitable partner.
