Pedestrian crossings to be installed on C-Link

A number of pedestrian crossings are to be constructed on the C-Link after residents of the Farranshock estate voiced their concerns to a local TD.

Residents from the recently constructed estate raised concerns with Minister Peter Burke at recent clinics held in his constituency office in Blackhall.

Minister Burke  said that road safety concerns are one of the many issues that crosses his desk on a daily basis.

“Residents of Farranshock, Mullingar have been in touch regarding road crossings and pedestrian safety and I am glad to see that road safety is being taken into account at this new development and to receive confirmation from Westmeath County Council that works on pedestrian crossings are on the way.”

“In an email from the council this week, engineers confirmed that works were due to commence to provide pedestrian crossing,” commented Minister Burke.

In the email from the local authority, Minister Burke was informed that the construction of pedestrian crossings on the C-Link was one of the planning conditions attached to Glenveagh Properties' planning application for Farronshock Park.

He was also informed that work on the crossings will start in the coming weeks.
