GALLERY: Loreto College team ‘delighted with results’

There were plenty of happy faces at Loreto College on Friday morning when a large number of now past pupils came in to receive their results and meet friends.

Four of them got more than 600 points, while some 40 students achieved more than 500 marks. Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner principal Olivia Callaghan said that the school community were “delighted with the results”.

“It was a great day here and it was fabulous to see so many of the students come in to the school. For some families it was a big day because they had Leaving Cert results and first year students on the one day.

“We were delighted with the results – there were some fantastic results across the board. They’re all waiting now to see their offers, but most seem to be within a very comfortable range for what they’re trying to get.” Ms Callaghan says that when it comes to college, the 2024 Leaving Cert class applied for a broad range of courses. Some are also exploring other learning options.

“Some were thinking of apprenticeships and some new apprenticeship programmes have been opened up.

“Sinéad Highland and the guidance team here are always on standby if there’s somebody wondering [what to do]. I think it’s great that girls are going down more apprenticeship routes in some cases as well. There is certainly something for everybody out there and a route to get there.

“It was just such a happy morning here on Friday. It was great to see so many coming back in. Well done to them and to their teachers and to their parents who supported them along their school journey.”
