Evening of ‘pure relaxation and fun’ for charity

Maresa Mander and Rachael Fagan hosted a evening of “pure relaxation and fun” in St John’s Church, Clonmellon last Thursday to raise funds for Breakthrough Cancer Research.

Maresa and Rachael have recently embarked on new ventures in the north Westmeath area: Rachael is hosting yoga classes in Collinstown and Castlepollard, and Maresa is holding meditation gatherings in Clonmellon.

They joined forces to share their new passions and created an evening of pure relaxation and fun, they said.

“We had an amazing group of 40 attendees on the night. We were absolutely blown away and so humbled by the support we received for the event. We had so many people and small businesses donate prizes to the raffle held on the night – everyone that attended the evening won a prize, which was brilliant.

“And we are delighted to have raised a total of €1380 for such a worthy cause and to support our dear friend Ally Byrne, who is an advocate for the charity.”

Maresa and Rachael said it is amazing what can be done in one evening when people come together.

“We hope this will encourage other small businesses and community groups to join together and host similar events as it’s really incredible what can be achieved. We would like to thank everyone that supported the event – Shane Dunne, who finished our meditation off with playing the wooden flute, and Allen and Lorena of Killua Castle for letting us host it at St John’s.”
