The other side

Do you wish you were on the other side of the fence?

Where everybody has fun and everything makes sense.

Cars are faster, houses bigger,

beautiful faces, healthier figures.

Sunshine is brighter, days are longer,

work is easier, bank balances stronger.

Families are perfect, holidays galore,

Relationships work, who could want for more?

Hours slow to minutes, there is no rush on time,

ducks don’t have to be in a row, they all get into line.

Until, you climb that golden fence and suddenly you see,

grass is only greener when through tinted glasses you see.

Let them…

Let them take the photo, give them a smile.

Stop complaining you’re not photogenic;

You’ll forget it was taken in a little while.

Don’t mind if you’re not in your best style,

If your hair’s out of place… or if your face is

flushed from walking an extra mile.

Snapshots capture fashion, frozen in time,

Forget about the décor, clothes old or new,

Seasons change, years pass, it’s you who will shine.

Illustrations to join stories for future generations,

Preserved through time, a lasting testament to your day.

A click of a button captures precious moments,

Memories the mind may pack away.

Each image tells a tale so true,

Of laughter shared and skies of blue.

Through these still frames, your story will be told,

Whispered in memories as time grows old.

So much depends upon

So much depends upon,

The year that you were born,

The parents you were given,

The life you have been living.

So much depends upon,

The country you reside in,

The colour of your skin,

The religion you believe in.

So much depends upon,

The person you marry,

The children you carry,

How in life you tarry.

So much depends upon,

How you survive from birth to death.

Sing me to Sleep

My legs are weary, I am tired,

Sing me to sleep,

I’m not hungry, I need no food,

Just sing me to sleep.

I’m not thirsty, you want me to drink,

Sing me to sleep,

I can’t sleep, I am so hot,

Please sing me to sleep.

Night time is worse for me,

Sing me to sleep,

Doctor has spoken, no medication for me,

Just sing me to sleep.

I try my best to laugh and have fun

Sing me to sleep

Thermometers and drinks till the battle is won,

Please sing me to sleep

Please don’t give up

Is it the last time I will see you?

I asked myself as I drive away

I had looked into your eyes and

saw your heart was breaking today.

Those beautiful eyes that looked in mine

Pools of beauty drowning in despair

I want to climb into your very soul

To clear all the hurt and clear the air.

I wanted to stay, you wouldn’t have it at all,

Telling me tomorrow you will give me a call.

You wave me off telling me there is nothing wrong.

Many times, I heard these words in the lines of a song
