The Baltic Day Festival held in the Bandhall on Sunday, August 25, was to commemorated 35 years since the Baltic countries – Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia – formed the historic ‘Chain of Life’.
The event aimed to honour the progress the Baltic nations have made since 1989. It was a celebration of Baltic culture, highlighting the contributions the people from that part of Europe have made to their communities, and particularly in Mullingar and north Westmeath.
The festival featured a variety of stalls selling organic produce from local farms, organic coffee, and an array of goods, including hand-knitted items and more.
Raimonda Masiulyte-Ramchurn, event organiser, expressed her hopes for the future of the festival. "I just wanted to showcase our culture, and I’m hoping that this continues for many years to deepen our cultural strength," she said.
Raimonda also acknowledged the challenges of organising the event, but with support from the community and Latvian and Lithuanian friends, everything came together smoothly.
The event attracted a large crowd, children and adults, who enjoyed a day of fun, laughter, and entertainment. The Bandhall in Mullingar buzzed with energy as attendees explored numerous stalls and enjoyed the lively music that played throughout the day.
