Neven’s Coastal Food Trails (RTÉ 1, Wednesday 11th, 8.00pm)

Neven Maguire heads to some of Ireland’s coastal towns visiting restaurants, cafes and street food stalls, and meeting artisan food producers. His travels take the Cavan chef to Wexford, Waterford, Sligo, Cork, Donegal and Clare.

Great Irish Interiors (RTÉ 1, Thursday 12th, 8pm)

Back with an eight-episode run, Great Irish Interiors has broadened its horizons to include stunning properties in Northern Ireland. Follow the teams as they work to return the interiors of iconic houses and castles to the condition and style they were in at the height of their glory – Fota House in Cork is first on the list.

Ireland’s Coast (RTÉ 1, Sunday 15th, 6.30pm)

Inspired by the landmark publication The Coastal Atlas of Ireland, the series will journey on Ireland’s coast, revealing its fascinating origins, rich biodiversity and magnetic charm. Episode 1 explores the significance of sea level rise and fall in Ireland’s territorial waters and cold water coral reefs hidden in the canyons and embarks on a dramatic journey with the Marine Institute of Ireland to the Porcupine Bank, to examine the role of weather buoys in the deep Atlantic.

Black Widow (Sky Documentaries, Sunday 15th, 9pm)

A tale steeped in mystery and deception, Black Widow tells the story of how three male victims were deceived, defrauded, and abused by Dena Thompson before she was finally caught and sent to prison in 2003. Her victims and the police officers involved tell the tale about one of the UK’s worst cases of abuse and coercive control.

WATCH OF THE WEEK

The Late Late Show (RTÉ 1, Frday 13th, 9.35pm)

It is a sign that summer is almost over – but it wasn’t much of a summer anyway. Patrick Kielty sits in for his second season, having made a decent hand of his debut in 2023. It is the longest show of its kind in the world, and even those who dislike it can only applaud such longevity. Expect songs, comedy and controversy.

Respect (BBC 1, Wednesday 11th, 10.40pm)

Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, Respect is exactly what this film does to one of the most iconic voices in modern music. Jennifer Hudson slips easily into the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.

The Searchers (TG4, Friday 13th, 9pm)

Directed by John Ford, this has rightly been credited as one of the greatest Westerns ever made. John Wayne returns home to Texas after the Civil War to find his brother’s family have been killed and abducted by Comanches, and vows to bring them home. Driven by a thirst for revenge, he embarks on a dangerous mission, journeying deep into Indian territory.

Breach (RTÉ 1, Friday 13th, 11.15pm)

Ryan Phillippe is a low-level surveillance expert with the FBI who gets an unexpected promotion to work with renowned agent Chris Cooper – only to discover the senior man is suspected of being a national traitor.

CLASSIC MOVIE

The Silence Of The Lambs (RTÉ 2, Friday 13th, 10pm)

Clarice Starling, an FBI trainee, seeks help from Hannibal Lecter, a psychopathic serial killer and former psychiatrist, in order to apprehend another murderer. One of the biggest crime blockbusters, this is where Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins give an acting master class. Stunning.

KIDS STUFF

Pickle Storm (CBBC, Monday 16th, 5.35pm)

Pickle has a secret – Swumpy is a strange half-rabbit, half-pig creature known as a warthoffle. When Swumpy escapes and starts munching his way through the neighbour’s prize-winning pumpkins, Pickle and new best friend Mia know they have to work fast before the secret is out.

Éadaí SOS (BBC 2, Monday 16th, 10pm)

Many shopping habits can have a terrible impact on the environment and on the planet. Every year millions of tonnes of clothing are burned or dumped in landfill, so presenters Caoimhe and Proinsias challenge four clothing-obsessed fashionistas to alter their shopping habits and embrace a more sustainable way of enjoying their passion for fashion.

Hefty psychological thriller/drama following events after a woman suspected of killing her husband commits suicide in police custody. Kansas City detective Anna Friel’s life unravels chaotically when she finds herself at the centre of a murder plot, facing suspension and possible imprisonment.

Uglies (Netflix)

Uglies is set in a future world in which a compulsory operation at 16 wipes out physical differences and makes everyone pretty by conforming to an ideal standard of beauty. Tally is about to turn 16, and she can’t wait to have the operation that will turn her from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty. But it’s not that simple…

Tulsa King 2 (Paramount+)

Sylvester Stallone returns to our screens in a crime drama that revolves around veteran mobster Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi, who was ejected from his position in a New York syndicate – and begins to build an alternative empire in the more innocent Midwest. Stallone chews the scenery to great effect.

SPORTS CENTRE

Muhammad and Larry (TG4, Wednesday 11th, 10.30pm)

This documentary combines never seen before archive footage with fresh insights from boxing experts who were at the famous fight between Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes in 1980. It was the beginning of the end for Ali, as the man he had helped become a great boxer finally faced his hero in the ring.

The Amgen Irish Open 2024 (RTÉ 2, Thursday 12th, 12.45pm – until Sunday)

Hugh Cahill and guests Gary Murphy and John McHenry with live coverage of the first day’s play from Royal County Down. Home turf, local heroes, partisan crowds – could it be an Irish win for Rory or Shane?
