Mullingar soccer clubs announce amalgamation

Two of Mullingar's most successful soccer clubs have announced that they are amalgamating.

In a post on social media yesterday (Wednesday), Mullingar Athletic and RFA Swans said that they were "pleased to announce some very exciting news".

"Following successful engagement by Mullingar Athletic AFC and RFA Swans over recent months, both clubs have now agreed to explore the full integration and amalgamation of our clubs to create the best playing environment for both boys and girls in the wider midlands area.

"For the coming season, the Swans will retain their current training facilities whilst playing home games in Gainstown. An implementation subcommittee will shortly begin work on the integration process with a view to full amalgamation.

"Both clubs are committed to ensuring that girls football remain front and centre and that the Swans Identity is preserved and strengthened through this process.

"We are extremely excited about this new phase in our club’s journey and look forward to working together and moving forward for the benefit of all of the players, coaches and supporters.

"We extend our sincere thanks to the executive members and wider committees of both clubs for the very positive engagement which has led to this agreement becoming a reality."
