'Leave it all on the pitch!'

This drone shot captures a significant moment for Mullingar Rugby Football Club, as members formed the number 100 to symbolise a century of rugby in Mullingar.

This 100 is made up of a wide cross-section of the club, from mini boys and girls, to gentlemen in their 80s who played and coached for the club, members of the Mullingar Lions mixed-ability team, and senior men and women players.

“It illustrates the transformation of rugby in the community. We are proud to say that today rugby in Mullingar truly reflects every aspect of our diverse local community,” said a spokesperson for the club.

Mullingar RFC club was founded in 1925 at the Greville Arms Hotel, and this year it is celebrating with a series of events, including a book launch before Christmas, a documentary by an award-winning videographer, and a major celebration ball planned for the February bank holiday weekend at the Mullingar Park Hotel, which will coincide with the start of the Six Nations.

The club open day welcomed boys and girls of all ages. “With our enhanced facilities and reputation as a club where every child leaves with a smile, we’ve seen many new members join recently.

As the GAA season winds down, we’re excited to welcome even more. It’s wonderful how the two sports complement each other, with one season leading into the next.”
